Day #60 - Statue of African Woman

I'm currently staying over at my cousin's and finding things to draw has been tough to come, obviously I can find references images to use but I wanna try and cut down much time I spend on the Internet, particularly Tumblr. It's literally like a lost destination for procrastinators. Anyhow, I looking around and I came around this interesting statue, Funnily enough, when I was drawing this my auntie stated that I should've gotten a more bigger sketchbook to fit the whole drawing in and she's was right. The quality of paper is just perfect but the shape of it, if you've seen is mostly square and that doesn't bode well for mainly larger objects I wanna draw, so as soon as I get back to uni next month, gonna buy me a big beautiful kraft paper sketchbook. Hopefully, after that I'll stop spending cause the amount of sketchbooks I have so far is too funny. Til next time!

Day #59 - Goodbye (for now!)

This is the last in the mannequin series (for now). I've really enjoyed drawing the mannequin and I wanna try my hand at drawing him in different media (watercolour, oil paint?) Over the past few days, I thought it would good to see other's artwork to re motivate me again and  oh my gosh, I've got A LOT of practising to do to get at that level. The next week coming is African statues! Gotta love ancient artefacts.

Til next time,

Day #56 - Leaps and bounds

Media used: blue biro. For some reason, I could imagine the mannequin leaping through a field of flowers. I could draw that. Sure why not.

Day #54 - Ballet pose

I wouldn't say this is much of a pose cause I wasn't able to fit the arms and legs in (oops!) Media used : blue biro. Comparing the mannequin drawings that I did so far, I prefer doing them in pencil. I just love the effect of the tonal pencil.

Day #53 - Take a bow

Mannequin poses this week! Cue Rihanna - Take a bow. I bought one of those wooden mannequins that you use for practising poses so I thought why not use it for this week? Media used is shown on the left. If you really want the best quality I recommend going to a good art shop, it may be a bit pricey but the quality is worth it. :)

I was really happy with the drawing and differentiating between the different level tones of pencils. I look forward to the results I'll get from these in the future. In terms of media, I just felt like focusing on pencil and biro pen (again) But I'm aiming to do other mediums that I haven't used yet for this challenge: charcoal, oil pastels, Faber colouring pencils (that's gonna be a toughie), also I wanna try primacolour markers too. Soo much to experiment with *_*

Day #51 - Flower Earring

This is probably my least favourite drawings that I have done so far this week. The proportions aren't that good and I feel pretty neutral about it. Will definitely be adding this to my redraw list.

Day #50 - Heart Earrings

50 days of drawing?! Only another 315 more days to go.... Anyhow, moved onto earrings and I was happy with the outcome especially with the right earring because I feel like I'm getting there with drawing how light reflects on surfaces. Also, thanks to this challenge I stop drawing in my spare time which is good for me but bad for my projects.

Day #49 - Blue Heart Bracelet

One of my favourite bracelets and definitely one of my favourite drawings so far. Ummm, not much else to say apart from the usual. It's crazy how fast this year has flown by and that 2015 is in 26 days O_o. Hope you all have had a good week and a good year. Let's see what 2015 brings :D

Day #48 - Rose Ring

I love love LOVE drawing roses. They're just so beautiful to draw. I feel like my cross hatching is becoming a lot more tighter and refined which I'm happy with, but the random blots of ink coming out of the pen not so fun. -___-

Day #46 - Gold and green ring

Hey all, sorry for yesterday. I meant to upload the rest of the images but I got very sleepy and I needed to gather my portfolio for an internship interview. ^_^  Week beginning 24/11/14, my theme for the week was jewellery and decided to focus on using blue biro. A very good choice I must add, I really enjoyed using this medium (apart from getting ink on my hands and smudging it on the pages) and I feel like I'm getting better at using the method of cross hatching, the more I do it. I was very happy with the outcome and I hope you lot enjoy the rest. ^^

Day #45 - Redraw of day #23

Hooray for new sketchbook and good quality paper! :D I really needed a better texture and this sketchbook did just that. If you ever need a good one, checkout Paperchase. I got a sketchbook with 140 pages for £4.75 which I must say is very good considering how Paperchase is expensive somewhat. This redraw was of the crumpled up pieces of paper I did and I am really really happy with the outcome. Drawing with blue biro just entertains me to no ends. The week of drawing, I just used blue biro. It's so beautiful to use on white paper.

Day #42 - Redraw of day #5.

Hey all, I am so very very very very very sorry about the lack of new posts this week (and last!). This week hasn't been the best and I've been trying to figure out a better time to upload my artworks since doing it late at nights isn't really working. For the majority of the drawings, I was able to draw them for the day but because I am an distraught mess, the tasks to upload them kept piling up. I can't say it'll happen cause you know me. But I will try to be more organized with this. As I stated in the last post, this week (or rather last week) was redraw week to see how my art skills have developed. Today was a redraw of day #5. It's safe to say I've improved a bit when it comes to using blue fineliner I think, but more patience is needed for sure. Hope everyone is good, happy and healthy. Sorry again for the long wait but at least you have loads to see!

Day #12 - The Electric Lady

:D :D :D :D. So so so sooooo happy with the outcome. Originally, I was going to draw a clip of a magical girl transformation but I wanted to experiment with pencils and oil paints for that. I'm sure you all pretty much agree that Janelle Monae is just amazing and her albums are just magic. I urgently recommend you listen to them, she manages to tell a story through her songs. So good. Anyhow, sketching this out took an hour (ended up going to bed at 5 in the morn)  but it was worth it. I took my time more with this one and rather than fixating on the details, I just went with the flow and with Electric Lady playing at midnight ;) Words cannot describe, how happy I was with the hair, hooray for me! The eyes too. I'll probably draw more artists using the uni pin fine liners; I've enjoyed using them thus far. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to improve, you're more than welcome. Til next time!

Electric lady, get wayyyyy downnn....

Day #8 - Silk

Back home for the weekend,  feels good to see family sgain 😃. I actually got so caught in catching up with them that I forgot all about my challenge.  Ended going to bed at half 2 in the morning 😅. I thought it be interesting and helpful to draw the crease and folds in clothes, to help me as both an artist and a designer. I really had fun drawing this, I'll probably do more in different media once Inktober is over. I really hope I don't lazy with this challenge, it's been good so far. Til next time!

Day #7 - Redraw of Day #6

So happy to be back in London, I've missed the sight of red buses and the TFL signs. I meant to post this yesterday after I had finished, but I got sleepy very quickly and woke up with cold #2. Yaaaay -_-. Nevertheless,  I was much more happier with the redraw and how it came out, unsure if I'll try experimenting more with the coloured biros again, who knows, although I'll definitely be using criss cross mark making as my main way of drawing stuff. The work I go to thus far for my projects are piling up pretty fast so I really hope that neither procrastination or my cold will get in the way of that. Til next time. :)
